The sky above the port 100x150 cmAcrylic on canvas, 2016
“The sky above the port was the
colour of television, tuned to a dead
channel” is the opening sentence in
William Gibson's novel Neuromancer,
published in 1984 | Woman Reading (second version)Stefania Pinsone, 40 cm x 85 cm - acrylic painting on canvas - 2017
The primary source of inspiration for this portrait (my own portrait…) is Gerhard Richter’s "Woman Reading", but here the technique enhances the meaning of the artwork: Richter is the painter of the Polaroid era, my goal was to represent the era of the digital revolution and how that impacts our life |

Nude descending a staircase (SOLD)Stefania Pinsone, 97 cm x 39 cm - acrylic painting on canvas - 2013 (Private collection)
The painting refers directly to one of the most famous painting of Gerhard Richter | Digimarc orchid (SOLD)Stefania Pinsone, 61 cm x 80 cm - acrylic painting on canvas - 2013
The viewer is attracted by the colours, as well as by the ambiguity and the strong symbols of sexuality in images that capture the attention in the constant stream of images in the media. The aesthetic exhibition is often exploited for commercial reasons exemplified by the digimarcs on the orchid. |

Amorphophallus titanumStefania Pinsone, 61 cm x 80 cm - acrylic painting on canvas - 2013
The Amorphophallus, on the other hand, is noteworthy with its masculine form that is rare, even among images intended for a female audience, the naked male body is, in fact, rarely used for commercial purposes. | The Kiss (SOLD)Stefania Pinsone, 40 cm x 62 cm - acrylic painting on canvas - 2013 (in the Atkinson Collection Gallery, Chicago)
There is an apparent paradox in the contemporaneous presence of exhibitionism and voyeurism in many of the images. In “The Kiss”, the image is subject to conditions of partial covering and the attempt to guarantee the anonymity by the use of a tight frame, but on the other hand, the subject of the image becomes even more explicit than it would be in the real world. |
